Why does one side look like this after chin lipo?

Hi, I got chin lipo in summer of 2020. I've been pretty happy with it but my results are not symmetrical. One side is tight and the other has a slight protrusion/swelling. It is helped by lymphatic massage, but I'd rather correct this permanently without getting lipo all over again. What do you think is the cause of this, and how can it be fixed?

The human face is highly asymmetrical. Only approximately 2% of the population have something that even resembles symmetrical faces by some studies.

It’s not uncommon for patients to notice their own asymmetry when looking critically in the mirror after having had a procedure.

The asymmetry was most likely present before your procedure and you should think of the two sides as being sisters and not twins.

During embryological development each side of the face forms independently from the other and the two sides eventually fuse in the midline. This is one reason why there is such a symmetry in the human face.

The human body is highly asymmetrical with most internal organs being completely asymmetrical.   Likewise, people are either left-handed or right handed and very few are truly ambidextrous.

Even great artists throughout history have known this and have incorporated normal facial asymmetry into classic works of art.

It’s easy to find computer generated symmetrical faces for a comparison by doing a Google search. Most people find truly symmetrical faces to look odd and less attractive than the normal and natural asymmetrical look that is normal and what the human brain is accustomed to.

Your results look good and most likely your surgeon removed fat evenly from both sides. And attempt to manipulate soft tissues to compensate for natural skeletal asymmetry will create two asymmetries.

I suggest you accept the result as being excellent and move on.
