Is there any risk of a neck lift making a neck sag more? If a surgeon were to release ligaments /muscle and reattach them incorrectly or poorly, could it cause the neck to be reattached in a saggier position?
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Deep Neck Work Typically no. If you have good skin elasticity then there should be no sagging of skin. If you have excess skin then you do need to "iron" and "redrape" it. This may involve incisions similar to a facelift. A surgeon comfortable with the superficial (skin and fat) along with the deep (digastric muscles, interdigastric fat, and submandibular glands) anatomy can help you design a plan to cater to your needs. Best of luck! If I can help answer any questions further just let me know!

Answer: Unlikely Your neck could sag more after a neck lift due to poor skin elasticity and aging. The attachment of ligaments is what causes sagging. The ligaments remain in place while the muscle and skin lose tension with age. Restricting ligaments have to be released with surgery. Because most doctors pull to relieve looseness, it is unlikely that lifts would place tissues in a saggier position.

Answer: Neck lift type There are different forms of neck lift, some of them including skin excision while others may address only muscle position, bulk and muscle bands, without skin excision. Only on the basis of in person consultation, an experienced plastic surgeon, expert in face/neck lifts, may give you good advice. Good luck.
