Are implants placed in the final pocket position during surgery?

At the time of surgery, the plastic surgeon makes a pocket and places the implants at the best position possible. However, wound healing and capsular contracture can distort things. The plastic surgeon does not have control over this. Sometime the implants will dislocate inferior and laterally but sometimes up as well. Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs. If your right side is perfect and the left side has not completely settled then you may want to live with that instead of risking other problems.

The implant on the side with the capsulectomy probably settled more because a new capsule had to form. In general I think implants should be placed where they should stay, but if the tissue is tight then some settling may be necessary for a natural look.

dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about your implants are not dropping as expected. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. If after six months, you are not satisfied with the appearance of your breast, you can visit your plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns.

Implants are placed where we want them, but they do creep up quickly, especially those placed behind the muscle. Also tissue swelling plays a part in raising the implants.
