Each provider will have their own way of injecting tumescent solution. This part of Liposuction probably has just as much variation as do liposuction the results. Some providers don’t pay any attention to how much volume is injected, while others pre-calculate exactly how much to inject in each area. The correct use of tumescent solution is highly important when Liposuction is done on patients who are awake in order to minimize discomfort. Meticulous use of appropriate amount of tumescent solution also reduces bleeding and therefore postoperative bruising. Delivering consistent quality, liposuction, results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons have truly mastered this procedure are in a small minority. Patients should be far more selective than they may think necessary when choosing providers for any type of liposuction. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of provider selection when it comes to this procedure. Poorly done Liposuction Can leave people permanently disfigured and poor results are virtually impossible to correct Being bored, certified in plastic surgery, with years of experience, does not mean if somebody has mastered anyone single procedure especially not Liposuction. To find the right provider, I suggest patient schedule multiple in person consultations with providers in their community. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. Highly experienced the sergeants should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before and after pictures to choose from. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of the providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of what average results look like in the hands of each provider. There is no correct number of consultations needed to find the right provider. The more consultations your schedule the more likely you are to find the best provider for your needs. The biggest mistake patients make is only scheduling one consultation and then scheduling surgery. This illuminates the ability to choose the best provider You cannot properly select providers based on Internet searching. if you have a question about an upcoming procedure, then I suggest you ask your provider about your concerns. If you haven’t chosen a provider, then I suggest you ask providers during consultations. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
