Can you wear false eyelashes if you are getting a nose job?

Hi. The question might seem stupid, but I am just curious due to the fact that the patient can not wear makeup, so, I wonder if I can wear false eyelashes the day of the surgery, if I am getting a procedure dont to my face. Thank you so much!!!

Hello and thank you for your question. Even though your procedure area is your nose and not your eyes, there are several reasons why you might want to avoid wearing false eyelashes during your rhinoplasty. False eyelashes may contain bacteria and lead to infection. Also, false eyelashes may get damaged by the surgical tape used around your eyes by your anesthesiologist. Even if your board certified facial plastic surgeon allows you to wear them, you will likely need a new pair by the time your surgery is complete. I hope this information helps you. False eyelashes will not be a problem for the surgeon but they are likely to come off either during or after surgery. I would not a get a new set prior to surgery because they are likely to be ruined.

Falsies and other types of make-up products should be avoided prior and shortly after your surgery. Eyelash falsies in particular harbor significant bacteria. There is also a likelihood that they will be partially damaged during the surgery if your eyes are protected with tape or a dressing during your procedure. Hope this helps!Johnson C. We recommend to remove makeup, eyelashes or jewelery as well as nail polish before surgery as they may interfer with monitoring equipments as well as potential untoward problems such as corneal abrasion and skin burn.

Inn our practice, it is acceptable to wear false eyelashes during a rhinoplasty procedure, but just understand that several of them might fall out when the patient's face and nose are made sterile with surgical scrub soap

False lashes do not interfere with surgery, but can get damaged or dislodged. We cover or sometimes put tape over the eyelids to keep them closed so the eye doesn’t dry during surgery. The tape can sometimes pull off the lashes.

It depends on several factors.  If you have general anesthesia, your eyes will need to be taped closed.  If you are have extensive dorsum work, they may get in the way.  Some anesthesiologists would prefer that you not have them.  You need to discuss with your surgeon.  Best wishes.
