Can you wear false eyelashes if you are getting a nose job?

Hello and thank you for your question. Even though your procedure area is your nose and not your eyes, there are several reasons why you might want to avoid wearing false eyelashes during your rhinoplasty. False eyelashes may contain bacteria and lead to infection. Also, false eyelashes may get damaged by the surgical tape used around your eyes by your anesthesiologist. Even if your board certified facial plastic surgeon allows you to wear them, you will likely need a new pair by the time your surgery is complete. I hope this information helps you. False eyelashes will not be a problem for the surgeon but they are likely to come off either during or after surgery. I would not a get a new set prior to surgery because they are likely to be ruined.

I recommend following up with your surgeon regarding their protocol for wearing false lashes during your procedure. I hope this helps.

Falsies and other types of make-up products should be avoided prior and shortly after your surgery. Eyelash falsies in particular harbor significant bacteria. There is also a likelihood that they will be partially damaged during the surgery if your eyes are protected with tape or a dressing during your procedure. Hope this helps!Johnson C.
