Hi, I had a consultation with a laser technician the other day and we were discussing Vbeam settings for telengelactasia. I told her that my previous treatments used 6ms with 10.5j settings. She said that we may want to change the pulse width to 10ms. I then asked if that meant we would increase the energy but she said the opposite ie. that energy fluence should decrease. Her rationale was that the longer it "cooks" the less power we need. Is this correct? Thanks.

Bruises take a variable amount of time to resolve, averaging between 1 to 2 weeks. It is possible to avoid the circular bruises you described by judiciously choosing the settings. However, certain conditions like spider veins and birthmarks require purpuric/bruising settings for effective treatment.
Vbeam is not affected by topicals however if someone did purpuric settings (ie you are very bruised) then you should consider avoiding topical treatments. Best, Dr. Emer.
There are many settings used for diffuse redness, thin small vessels on nose, thin vessels on face/cheeks, blue vessels. some stack the pulses or prolong them to get more improvement. this has to be individualized. Best, Dr. Emer.
