Hello, I completed 3 years in braces to correct an overjet and now my upper lip doesn't protrude as much, making me look older. In addition, when I smile or laugh, my upper lip rolls under giving me a "gummy" smile that I've always hated. Will a filler like Volbella help alleviate the gummy smile, or will it only plump my upper lip? Thank you!

Botox into the muscles above the lips will relax the muscles and prevent the gummy smile. Fillers will give you fuller lips. I have seen great results with this combination. Answer: Upper lip rolls under when I smile - how to help a gummy smile? Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. Fillers like Volbella will only increase the size of your upper/lower lip and will not materially address your gummy smile. I do advocate a hyaluronic acid filler into your lip to help maintain its fullness when you smile. As for your gummy smile I would recommend a small amount of botox to either side of your nose to help lower your lip and prevent the excessive gum show. Hope this helps.

Answer: Botox/Xeomin/Dysport Results--Lasts 3-4 months in new areas of treatment Thanks for sending in the photos. I have seen many people in your situation. Botox/Dysport injected in nasi muscle above the lip, relaxes the muscle. I would also recommend lip filler as well. Just a little in your top and bottom lips. Trust me it makes all the difference when you smile, your top lip won't disappear. I recommend getting a formal consultation with a dermal filler expert. Best, Dr. Emer
