Could temporary veneers cause a tooth ache at night when I lie down without a more serious underlying reason?

I got my top 8 teeth shaved down for veneer prep and the temporaries put on one week ago from today. On my third night after the shave down, I started to develop a tooth ache at night when I lie down. There isn't one tooth that hurts more than the other, it's my entire top row gum line. During the day I have no pain or discomfort but as soon as I lie down, my entire upper row of teeth throb. Could the temporary veneers and newly shaved down teeth cause this pain or is it a more serious issue?

Hi:This is an unusual circumstance, however in rare occasion just the fact there are 8 temporary veneers connected to each other could create a pressure on the teeth that can become painful at night .  It’s best to have your dentist evaluate the area.Best,Dr. Maddahi

That's a strange situation. Typically, a minimal amount of tooth structure is removed for veneers. It's unusual to have discomfort after veneer preps are done. If it's at the gum line, it's possible the temporary veneers aren't trimmed enough and are causing pressure or rubbing at the gums. Without photos or xrays, it's impossible to really say what's going on, but you should have your dentist evaluate the area.

Hi friend,If your teeth have worn out for the dental veneers, which I personally do not consider necessary, you could feel pain the first day but it disappears after a day or two.One factor is bruxism since you expose is at night. for this you must use a retainer which you must use every night while you sleep.You should also visit your doctor to evaluate the cause / solution.Regards,

new veneers even if temporary, may mean and new bite and sometimes that can take a while to get used to. I would recommend you bring it to your dentists attention as soon as possible so a bite assessment can be made. It’s possible to have a toothache (or jaw ache) without any other reasons other than a new bite!
