Would veneers and a new dental implant crown all match? (photo)

Question

I have a dental implant on tooth number 10. My 2 front teeth are chipped and worn so they are misshapen. It’s been recommended that I get porcelain veneers on teeth 6-9 and 11 and get a new crown over the implant on 10. Would it be possible to make the veneers and the crown match if I get this all done at the same time? My concern is the veneers all match, but the crown would look different.

Excellent question. This we call combination case, and you can get great results if the master ceramist works hand in hand with your cosmetic dentist. Not all labs are capable to give you the best results, custom coloring may be needed. Recommend to see an expert cosmetic dentist that has master ceramist nearby or in house! It also depends on what type of porcelain will be used, and if the implant has zerconia implant abutment or titanium.

It is definitely possible to match porcelain on veneers to porcelain on an implant crown.  The match however can be a bit trickier.  In our office we work directly with an in house ceramist to ensure the porcelain will blend. We take shade measurements of the underlying teeth and porcelain thickness and have the ability to make changes to shape and color at the insert visit to maximize results.

It will all match much better if it's all done at the same time out of the same material. The crown on the implant may always have a little difference in the shade due to the fact that there isn't natural tooth under it, but a metal implant.

Made at the same time by the same ceramist who knows what all the prepared teeth look like, the six teeth should all match.The dentist- ceramist team should know how to deal with dissimilar shades of prepared teeth.End result should be a light, bright, natural looking smile.
