I was overfilled with cheek fillers. I’m 34 and 2 syringes placed in each cheek. A nurse injected hyaluronidase in an area in lower cheek where we thought filler was present although weren’t sure and ever since my skin in this area forms a pouch of dead space on either side of my face. The skin sags. Will my skin regain elasticity and go back to normal Over time? Or has the hysluronidade destroyed my own skin since there was no filler present and I have no hope?
Answer: Hylenex can be very safe for filler reversal Longterm filler problems include migration, edema, and nodularity. Filler migration and permanence is a very common problem because there are many different types of HA fillers on the market and each is specified for a specific part of the face. Use of highly cohesive fillers on thin skin may cause swelling and nodularity. If patients have filler migration or nodules, we recommend a combination approach of filler reversal with enzymes Hylenex and Hyaluronidase in different strengths to dissolve the filler. We may also need to add Kenalog to the mix in order to reduce fibrous tissue. If the filler does not dissolve, it either means the filler is not HA material or we need more enzyme. The HA reversal can be combined with other lasers and skin treatments at the same time, and it usually (usually) does not affect adjacent tissue. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: After Hyaluronidase - Fillers (Voluma, Radiesse), Implants, Sculptra or Fat Yes, your skin will go back to normal once it is settled which may take a few weeks. The Hyaluronidase will not affect your skin. Facial sculpting and contouring of the face can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would give improvement in facial balance. Fat or implants are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Skin Changes after Hyaluronidase Hi Randy. The skin around the Hyaluronidase injection site has not been affected by the injection. Hyaluronidase has the ability to dissolve hyaluronic acid based products such as Restylane and Juvederm but will not affect your skin texture.

Answer: Regain elasticity? Hyaluronidase results No, hyaluronidase will not permanently impact your natural tissue. It can take a few weeks for results to settle. Keep in mind, it can take a few treatments to dissolve filler. Hope this helps.

Answer: Will my skin regain elasticity after hyaluronidase? Hi Randy3241, Theoretically, your native collagen would not have been affected but there are those who report otherwise. Though temporary, it might take some time for your collagen to grow. You are young and your sagging should improve. Better yet, see a trusted doctor to discuss other options. Sculptra actually induces collagen to grow. All the best, Justin Harper, M.D.
