I had EVLT treatment on both of my legs about a month ago. A week after the procedure I had my first session of sclero. Two weeks later I had a second session. I know it may take a while to heal but after the sclero sessions I was left with little red veins through out my legs, clusters of little veins in some places like around the knee area especially. I've never had red veins like that and I'm wondering, will it go away in time or will I need to have more treatment?
Answer: Time Heals While Matting does occur after sclerotherapy it often resolves with time. Give your legs a while to heal (4-6 weeks) in order to see your true results after treatment. If at that time, you still have spider veins or evidence of matting, additionally sclerotherapy or laser may be necessary to give you the best results. This is not uncommon. Hang in there and make sure to follow up with your doctor. With a little patience you should get where you want to be.

Answer: Sclerotherapy Results--takes a series of treatments I recommend following up with your Doctor for a formal evaluation and after care recommendations. Swelling can be typical for a few weeks after your procedure. I recommend wearing compression to help give improvement. Typically it takes 2-3 treatments of sclerotherapy for improvement otherwise you can try lasers for the smaller vessels. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Sclerotherapy Its very hard to see in the pictures if the red areas are from the vein treatment or just residual veins. Anyways I would wait for 4-6- weeks and at that time all the successfully treated veins should start to disappear but if the area still blanches and has tiny red veins then those veins will need to be injected again. Its common that after the bluish veins are injected successfully the tiny pink ones start showing. They were always there but the blue color from reticular veins has been dominating them.

Answer: Matting after scerotherapy, My dear lady, If you had only spider veins and whoever did on you EVLT, that physician is a crook. Any form of ablation of the long or short Saphenous vein (thermal, surgical, injections) is needed only in the presence of Varicose Veins, NOT spider veins. NEVER! Unfortunately, insurance companies pay well for thermal ablation and physicians use it to milk money. Besides, by closing your saphenous vein, you lost a by-pass material in case you will have coronary artery problems later in life. Lastly, do not permit anymore any injections in those red matted spiders. It will get worse. He/she is also probably using high concentration of the sclerosing solution or saline that can produce matting. I am sorry that I can't help you!!

Answer: Usually resolves Matting after this treatment usually resolves on it's own, though that process usually takes at least 3-6 months and can take as long as 12. If it persists after that, you should consider sclerotherpay of the area.
