Scar removal surgery. Is it going to be a bad idea?

Keloid scars are characterized by their growth potential and increased degree of inflammation within the skin. Unlike non-inflamed scars, keloids have the potential for growth beyond the original footprint of injury. Scars can be greatly improved with a combination of surgery and more non-invasive treatments (lasers, peels, microneedling/prp). if non-surgical methods didn't provide you with enough improvement, then scar revision might be an option. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Surgical excision can often be a useful for improving the appearance of facial scars.  Of course once you have a scar it is permanent and the goal is to IMPROVE the scar appearance.  Making a wide scar narrower, an elevated or depressed scar smoother, or at times changing the direction or configuration of the scar are all possible treatment goals.
