What are the risks of injecting filler in front of the earlobe?

Question

I recently underwent jawline lipo in an effort to reduce jowls. Unfortunately, the jowls were not lipo'd enough, but the back of the jaw area and in front of the earlobe were over lipo'd. I now want to restore volume in the area in front of my earlobe to reduce jowl skin. Is the area in front of the earlobe commonly treated with filler to help with jowls? How soon after lipo can filler be injected in the same area?

It is common practice to inject filler at the posterior angle of the jaw (in front of the earlobes), as well as along the entire jawline itself in order to straighten and define a jowly jawline. I would suggest waiting at least two months so as to permit sufficient time for all edema related to the lipo procedure to completely resolve. Best of luck.

filler injections anywhere have risks of lumps and bumps, irregularities, infection/swelling, bleeding/bruising. I suggest you see an expert.  Cannula injections limit complications.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hello and thank you for your question.  Yes it’s is a common procedure and you should have no issue with it as long as you find an experienced injector. You should probably wait a few weeks before you have it done since you just had liposuction. Best wishes.

Filler is commonly injected in front of the earlobe. Like anywhere in the face injecting requires knowledge of the anatomical structures in the area.  If you go to an experienced, qualified provider you should have no problem.

I commonly inject filler in the lateral cheek and in front of the ear (we call this the preauricular cheek). Many people have volume loss and wrinkling in this area. Injections here need to be done superficially given the underlying structures including the parotid gland and blood vessels. See a filler expert for in person evaluation.
