With any excisional procedure, there is always a risk of a scar formation that is more noticeable than the original scar. This is however not expected. Subcision and filler can be used as well. Subcision and filler is generally better for rolling or stretchable scars. Punch excision is better for deep ice-pick or pinpoint scars. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Yes, this is the most common complication of punch excision in this context. The decision of surgical vs surgical subcision and fillers should be based upon the size of the scar, the area, surgical technique and most importantly, - post operative wound care. A punch excision may still leave a scar. I would recommend first trying a filler into the scar and see if that makes a nice improvement. I like Restylane for these types of scars and I have great results. Please consult an expert in scars. Best, Dr. Green

HI, we have found success with combining BellaFill Injections along with a dermapen/laser or Vivace procedure for treating acne scars. This is the best combination to fill in and smooth out the scarring. Good luck!
