Radiesse and Voluma effects in chin and jaw gone after 4-6 months. Is this normal?

Hi THXY.  Voluma and Radiesse should both last 9-12 months in that area.  It's unlikely that the product is gone but in most cases with our patients, the initial swelling associated with the procedure makes it hard for them to visualize the final result.  When they do see the final result, they often need more product.  It's hard to say whether it's an issue of you needing more product or of how the product was placed that is causing your concern.  Before and after photos might actually help.  Were these taken by your injector?  If not, that's a bad sign as photos are the way to address patient concerns like the ones you have.For Radiesse Los Angeles before and after photos, click on the link below.  

Some people especially those that workout need more than 1 syringe or 2 to give full effects of jawline contouring and the filler goes away (metabolizes) much faster.  This is especially true with my patients in LA that exercise, diet, and use stimulants for weight loss. With that said, I am frequently doing sculptra along with the fillers or more long term fillers like bellafill and fat injections to get a more substantial improvement.  Otherwise you will keep having to reinject the semipermant ones.  Best, Dr. Emer.

you may need more than one syringe. doubt very much it is completely gone, however you may metabolize it faster than other patients. More likely, you had some swelling with the initial injection and then when the swelling went down, you felt it all disappeared. in fact, there is almost certainly most of it still present but you just need to buy more of them. i always tell my patients, that it is much better to feel i was too conservative and have them come back and buy more, than to put too much initially and look like those whack jobs from Hollywood that seem to do everything to extreme excess.good luckdavid berman md
