Does Radiesse ever fully go away?

Question

I had radiesse about two years ago. It was injected very unevenly - 1.5 syringes in the left side of my face, up at my temple, close to the eye and down under my cheekbone. .5 syring on the other side. Its been two years now and the left side of my face still looks distorted. Will this product ever dissolve/ fully go away? I am thinking of getting more on the right side to at least even it our, but my dear is that as soon as I do that, the left side will go down. Thoughts?

Thank you for your question.  Radiesse will definitely break down and dissipate over time.  A balancing treatment sounds like it may be very appropriate in your situation but it would be most important to see an experienced injector for this procedure, given your history, and to also have very accurate photographs taken before and after so that both you and your provider are on the same page. Radiesse is supposed to be replaced by collagen in 9-12 months however I have seen residual radiesse years after in patients while I was performing a face lift surgery on them.  Therefore I think that either there is residual radiesse or some scar from bleeding or an inflammatory reaction at the time of the injection.  Either way you can correct the asymmetry with other injectables and mask the areas that you are unhappy with.

Radiesse is gone 12-15 months after treatment but new collagen can remain.  I suggest seeing an expert in fillers for treatment to improve your asymmetry.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Radiesse is made of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a natural product that the body will dissolve over time. The time it takes the body depends on your metabolism, lifestyle and the injection site. Radiesse can also stimulate new collagen prodcution, so it is possible that you may be experiencing the remnant of Radiesse lansting longer than usual, increase collagen production in that area, or perhaps some scar tissue. I would consult with an advanced injector to asses the current state of your face and work with you on a long term plan to evening out your face and maintain a natural look going forwards. The right injector makes all the difference.

Radiesse is actually reabsorbed fairly rapidly but does result in replacement with collagen which typically last about one year. I have seen the results of Radiesse placed in the hands and temples last up to three years. There is no way to dissolve collagen or persistent Radiesse but the contours that trouble you can be camouflaged.
