The ideal chin projection for a man should be right below his lower lip. But I find that if the chin is projected more than that, it can look good on some guys too (caucasian or not) but not always. Why is that? If I go with an XL implant, is it possible that it will end up being to big? I'm a male with heavy mid face but visible strong jawline, yet quite small compared to the cheekbone width

Chin augmentation with silicone implants result in bone resorption over decades. This will mean that you will have to replace the implant with a larger one when this happens.
It is probably best to wait a month after your chin implant placement for getting pregnant to ensure full healing has occurred. In our practice, we use Silastic chin implants which have a better safety record than Medpor.
