Should polysporin make my nose worse before making it better? After closed rhinoplasty - had surgery 48hrs ago.

Question

My packaging was removed this morning. They applied polysporin inside the nostrils with a q-tip. I put some in this afternoon and then tonight again.I realized that after application (a lot of gel) my inner nose burns slightly and then it starts to eventually drip. I put on the gauge strip afterward to “catch” it. However I’ll be more stuffy for a while after, and it feels like there is mucus at the back of my throat (wanting to swallow type feeling). Is this normal?Before getting better?

HI,  I am Dr. Lane Smith from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Polysporin frequently causes a severe allergic reaction usually due to the polymyxin    I would stop immediately and contact your surgeon.  It's not dangerous and you should improve after stopping.   I hope this is helpful,Lane Smith, Board Certified Plastic surgeon and Board certified ENT,
