I'm panicking! Will my lips be ok? 1 day post lip injections. (photos)

Question

I had nice lips to begin with, I just thought why not try fuller lips but now I'm regreting it. I had them injected today, just 1ml. First photo is right after, doctor said they were swollen. After almost 7 hours they look like the second and third pic, very swollen, uneven. I'm very worried my lips will turn out too big or uneven. I wish a doctor can take a look and tell me if it looks like a good job and will be ok? How much of the volume is actual swelling. I'm thinking of reversing them.

Hi and thank you for your question! Please don't worry. What you see is mostly swelling and it will go away in the days that follow and should be fully resolved within 2 weeks. At that time if you have any concerns with the shape of your lips, a follow up with your physician can easy fix it. I hope it helps and good luck!

Dear Paris270,fillers have a significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.  Dissolving is unpredictable as well.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

There can be swelling, which can last 1-2 weeks after your injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Swelling is very common after lip injections.  The majority of swelling will last 2 to 4 days and slowly subside over a week time frame. Typically people feel soreness and discomfort for the first couple hours or day after the injections. With this being said, I would still advise you to talk with your injector to calm your mind.

Thanks for your question and I appreciate your concern. I tell my patients to expect substantial swelling in the first 3-5 days after lip augmentation. One day out, it is too early to tell. You may be surprised at how much the lips go down in the ensuing few days. Depending on the filler, there may be an "antidote" (hyaluronidase for Restylane/Perlane/Juvederm products) that can break apart the hyaluronic acid but I find it is rarely needed in lip augmentation patients if they are able to wait it out. If you remain concerned at one week, go back to your injector or see another physician for a second opinion.

Hi, Thanks for the question!Sorry to hear about your concern.It is way, way, way, too soon to judge on the lips within the first 24 hours after injections.
So while you inform your physician about your concern, I highly suggest to not worry and give it some time for the swelling to go down.Hope this helps!

Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs.  Swelling is common after treatment with Juvederm, especially when the lips are injected.  Swelling can often cause the appearance of asymmetry or unwanted fullness.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow normal postprocedure swelling to fully resolve and to see your final result.  Please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best course of action.  Hope this helps and best wishes!

There is swelling that can be significant for 72 hour depending on the filler used.  Please contact you injector.  Using arnica can help in these situations.

Hello, thank you for your question and pictures. Normally with fillers if you don't have any pain I would suggest waiting for 2/3 weeks before revisiting your practitioner with a view to dissolving as until then there may be bruising or haematoma which will need time to settle down. However, if you are in any pain please revisit your injector for a review appointment as soon as possible.
