You are still very early in the recovery stage and it is normal to be swollen for about 4 months, be patient they will settle and heal in time. Follow up with your PS to discuss your concerns.
Thank you for your question. Day number 1 is really early to get too critical about results. Yes, lifts can sometimes look a bit boxy, depending on what was done and how much tissue was rearranged, etc. The long term shape settles in a few months after surgery when the swelling is gone and the skin has stretched out a bit. Best wishes.
Dear DiamondsDolls,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast lift surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 1 day post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your breast lift surgery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Yes, it is normal for breasts to look boxy 1 day post op breast lift. Under the breast is where the excess skin was removed. This area is now the tightest, a fact which gives the boxy appearance. At 1 day post surgery, you are about a half percent settled, shaped, softened, dropped and fluffed.Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author
At one day post-op, you are still very early in the recovery process. It can take a few months for your breasts to return to a normal appearance after surgery. It is important that you are following your surgeon’s post-operative care instructions to ensure the best results. We recommend scheduling an appointment with your surgeon to further discuss your concerns.
I agree that one day, or even one week after surgery is too early to assess the results. You surgeon likely over-corrected your breasts during the lift, since gravity always affects the breasts as they settle into a normal shape and appearance. Be patient and make sure to follow up with your surgeon.
Thank you for your question. I let my patients know prior to their breast lift surgery that the shape will look different a couple days after surgery than what is expected for final results. I describe it as the breast looking "upside down" with a lot of upper pole fullness. This is due to the fact that "over correcting" is necessary because the breast tissue will naturally want to come down due to gravity so if you start out with the breast tissue low, the results will be even lower. Being that you are only 1 day post-op I would recommend being patient as a lot will change in shape within the next couple of days and weeks. If there are any concerns, visit your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Hi thank you for your question.I would start by stating the appearance of any breast lift operation, regardless of technique, is usually not apparent 1 day post-op. Over the first week or so, the swelling will reduce significantly. Bruising will improve and the shape of the breast will alter. This change in shape continues for the first month or so before the final shape can begin to be seen. It may take up to 3 months for the final shape to fully settle.Having said that the technique used to perform the breast reduction operation has an effect on the shape. Techniques vary according to the incisions used (and therefore the scars left) but also the technique used to move the nipple. We keep the nipple alive on a 'paddle of tissue' referred to as the pedicle which contains the blood vessels to nourish the nipple. In my experience the 2 best techniques to avoid a 'boxy breast' are known as 'superomedial pedicle' and 'central mound'. There is a technique known as 'inferior pedicle' which I find often makes the breast more boxy so I avoid using it.Your surgeon will probably have mentioned the technique to be used but, if not, you can raise this with them. Often, once the tissues have healed, if there is some adjustment required to improve the shape of the breast this can be discussed with you.I hope this helps and wish you a speedy recovery from your surgery.
With time and once you are healed, you will be allowed to critique your outcome and then decide if there are options for you to pursue in attempts to achieve symmetry. But you started out asymmetric and no surgeon promises perfect outcomes so you have to be careful of what you try to pursue as ...
Prices vary with every surgeon, an in person consultation would be best for a detailed exam and evaluation.always see a board certified PS.
