Is it normal to have itching after liposuction?

Yes, the skin can be itchy after liposuction as it heals. We give oral antihistamines and topical hydrocortisone. If it persists, I recommend following up with your Doctor. You may also swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. Thank you for your question.  Often times patients state they itch after liposuction.  This is often caused because the nerves in the treated area are slightly injured during surgery.  The itching sensation are those nerves regenerating.  Try moisturizing and when the itching is uncomfortable, gently rub the area.
