Hello - I'm planning on lipo in my stomach, flanks and bra bulge. I did it 13 years ago, and really didn't love the results. Although, I want to do it again to look better in my wedding dress. I'm nervous considering I wasn't all that happy with my choice the first time around. The original lipo doc missed a few spots that could use a touch-up as well. Will I be unswollen enough in 2 months to make it worth it? Again - My goal is to have a trim waistline and look amazing in my dress. Thank you.
Answer: Lipo 2 months before wedding IN general, I prefer 3 months of recovery for such important events, but this is going to depend on exact nature of your procedure and also your surgeon. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.

Answer: Healing after liposuction Thank you for your question. Healing after liposuction is usually pretty straight forward. There is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery. The later phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens. It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient. You may still be swollen at 2 months post surgery but also may have good improvement. Good luck!

Answer: Liposuction Recovery Recovery will vary from patient to patient and procedure to procedure. The majority of swelling typically resolves in the first 2 months. However, patients will not reach a plateau until 4-6 months post-operatively. Subtle changes will continue over this period. With regards to your specific situation, as long as you are not undergoing a significant contouring procedure your major swelling will likely have resolved by 2 months post op.A word of caution: complications are unpredictable. While unlikely, you schedule does not much of a margin of error. Thus there is an inherent risk of undergoing a procedure in such close proximity to an important event. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

Answer: Getting Married Before Liposuction? This is a great question. First of all let me congratulate you on your new life together. I have been married 25 years and everyday is a new learning experience. The wedding day usually is focused on the beauty of the Bride so..... Consider the fact that it takes about a month for the swelling to go down SIGNIFICANTLY. So, when you go get that dress altered, keep in mind that you want to do the alterations as close to the wedding date as possible. If you can do your liposuction 6 months prior to the wedding, do it! If not, make sure you wear compression garments (I use Isavella) to get the swelling to a manageable level. Again Congrats!
