Can I get lip injections after fat trasfer to lips, and if so, how long should I wait? I have heard mixed reviews about fat transfer to lips, but it seems so much easier than constantly getting injections. Is lumpiness a very common side effect?

Answer: Fillers after fat injections Fillers can be done after fat transfers. I would recommend letting the lips heal for 4-6 months after fat transfer before adding filler to see how you like the fat. Lumpiness is possible which is why some people shy away from fat in the lips but it is longer lasting than fillers which patients like. Schedule a consultation and you can get a full assessment and advice. Best wishes.

Answer: Fat Transfers vs Fillers in the lips Fat transfers definitely last much longer. This can be good or bad. I have seen several patients in whom too much fat was injected. They are stuck with this for years. The good thing about fillers is that Hyaluronic Acid fillers can be removed with Hyaluronidase if you do not like your results. They do have to be periodically repeated. I like Volbella. It has a natural, soft texture. It could be injected after fat transfers have adequately healed (4-6 months). Best Wishes, Maurice Vick MD
