Where exactly are the lateral orbital rims of the eye area?

Is there anyway to augment this region? who is an example of someone with strong lateral orbital rims? are lateral orbital rims necessarily attractive on a male?

Hi Jberman1985,Wow!  A quick search of the interwebs showed that this is a fairly commonly asked question!It seems there is a lot of confusion.  Most of those commenting on 'lateral orbital rim' threads are thinking that the lateral portion of the superior orbital rim (the bony prominence above the eye, where the eyebrow sits) is the lateral orbital rim, when, in actuality, the lateral orbital rim is the bony prominence at the outer corners of the eye.  If you place your finger at the outer corner of your eye and press, it's the hard bone you feel there.Strong lateral orbital rims are not necessarily attractive in men.  You can, however, augment this area with injectable filler, fat, or (less commonly) implants.  Strong superior orbital rims may be attractive for men - look at Robert Pattinson and Joe Manganiello.Hope that helps!Dr. Jay

Filler injection is a minimally invasive treatment for augmenting the area but best to have consultation to determine if you would benefit from it and discuss realistic expectations.

In order to enhance the masculine appearance of the eyes, some patients like to have more prominent "brow bones" or structure around their eyes. This usually rests along the upper lateral areas of the orbital rim along the lateral eyebrow. This can be achieved with implants or more easily with fillers however it is important to have any examination to determine if this will create a natural masculine look or unnatural puffy look depending on the rest of your facial features.
