Juvederm Volbella XC vs. Juvederm Ultra XC? I'm getting my first lip fillers in the next week.

Question

I was wondering which of the two fillers would be best and what the differences are between the two. I understand that Juvederm Volbella XC has some lidocaine in it--would this equate to less filler going into the lips or is the amount negligible? Thanks!

performing lip augmentation is an art that has to do with expertise and know how ofnthe surgeon than the tool itself to beautify it aesthetically to your taste.  So choose a doctor with years of experience doing lips and less worry on the material itself.

Thank you for your question. Both fillers you have mentioned contain lidocaine. Volbella is a thinner filler and is used to soften the lip lines and give a subtle improvement. Both of the fillers you mentioned contain lidocaine to make the treatment more comfortable.  Volbella is a thinner product and used to soften lip lines and give a subtle improvement.  Juvederm will help by adding more volume to the lips.  I recommend speaking with your injector about your treatment goals.  Together you can select the product that is right for you.

Each patient is different and it depends on the look you want. Be sure you are seeing an experienced injector and discuss what you are trying to attain. Volbella is a thinner product and best for lip lines around the lips. Juvederm is nice for enhancing your lips for a fuller look. Volbella is a very fine injected for the lips and Juvederm is a much thicker injection for your lips and will have a significantly different result.  A lot depends on your anatomy and what "look" you are aiming for. The new family of Juvederm fillers is far less viscous. Consequently the needle needed to inject is much thiner. this results in less pain, less bruising, less risk of arterial cannulation . I greatly prefer Juvederm Volbella over Juvederm XC for lips, Vollure for the face, and Voluma for the cheeks.
