I am type 1 diabetic and a plastic surgeon I spoke to told me that right after surgery I will be immediately discharged. Is this safe?
Answer: BBL After a surgical procedure, then patient stays in a recovery room, under monitoring. For how long? It depends on how long was the surgery, if the procedure was done with general anesthesia, or spinal anesthesia, if the volume of fat removed was small or large, if the vital signs of the patient are normal, if the patient does not have any active bleeding, or postoperative vomit, if the patient is fully awake and not too much pain, etc. In your case also will be important to check your glucose levels to check that you are with hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia to assure you will be ok to go back home. Discuss these situations with your surgeon and get all the answers for your questions.

Answer: I wanted to know if the patient should be immediately discharged after BBL surgery? What are the procedures after a BBL surgery? I appreciate your question. You can request going to an after care facility for the first night of your surgery if you won't have anyone to help care for you at home. There, nurses can manage your pain and help you ambulate (get up and walking about) for the first night. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery. Best of luck! Dr. Schwartz

It is typical when you have a medical history, you undergo clearance by your PCP or endocrinologist etc. You PS likely received a letter of clearance along with some labs etc.

Answer: BBL or any other recovery duration? In general, you should expect your recovery period to last 1/3rd the time that your surgery takes. For example, if your BBL took 3 hours, then you should be kept for 1 hour in the post recovery room.

Answer: Outpatient procedures Most Brazilians are performed as outpatient procedures.Patients will generally spend some time in the recovery area before being discharged. The amount of time spent in the recovery area depends on several factors.Patients are generally not sent home until they meet certain criteria to be safe. many surgical facilities offer 23 hour stay though this can be a little bit expensive. Our hospital charges $900 to spend the night after elective cosmetic surgery. I perform almost all my liposuction and Brazilians without the use of General Anastasia. The patients usually tolerate going home within an hour of the procedure. recovery can be a little longer when general anesthesia is used Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
