I would like to know more about the alar sail excision procedure for hanging alar. Any suggestions?

This procedure is not popular for Caucasian noses, so it was hard to find information about it on English websites. If there are any doctors out there who can provide some information unique to this procedure (safety, recovery time, risks), it would be much appreciated.

Alar excisions for hanging alae? One of the reasons you do not hear much about these is that experienced rhinoplasty surgeons do not like making that external incision since that area is oily sebaceous skin and often leads to an unattractive scar.

Hello,Thank you for your question.  Most patient who require alar excisions are Asian or African American.  When these procedures are needed, patients tend to heal quite well.  Healing time varies for everyone, but expect 1 week for sutures.  Best of luck!
