What to do with a low grade fever 2 weeks after breast surgery?

Question

I had breast surgery - implants and a lift on January 29th. All has been well until today when I measured a temperature of 37,2. I took ibuprofen and it went down to 37, only to go to 37,4 now. What should be done?

Are your breasts red, warm to the touch, increasing in swelling, or tender? Those would be concerning findings for infection. Low grade temperature can be unrelated to your breast surgery or related; only a qualified physician examining you in the office would be able to ascertain if there is an issue with your implants. You should see your plastic surgeon; if the implants are determined to be ok, you may need to see your primary care provider if fevers persist without other symptoms attributable to a source (like cough, urinary tract symptoms, etc.).
