Hi, i have had braces before and my bite is good and correct now, however my chin is recessed. i would like to have it in line with my bottom lip. Would a sliding genioplasty be a good solution or would I need bsso and lefort 1 to advance both the top and the lower jaw? thank you!
Answer: Sliding genioplasty Braces and orthognathic surgery are a big commitment of time and if you happy with your bite then I would recommend a simple sliding genioplasty for your chin. This will not require further braces and will not change your bite. This procedure can be performed in the office with IV sedation and you can expect a 4-5 day recovery depending on your age. A LeFort and BSSO would require round 2 of braces. Good luck

Answer: Good bite but receding chin As long as the mandible and maxilla are in the appropriate relationship and your dentition is acceptable, osteotomies are probably unnecessary. Placement of the chin implant can augment the chin forward to help with facial balance And proportions. Placement of the chin implant is performed through a small incision underneath the chin under local anesthesia which takes approximately 30 minutes. A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay, and is much more invasive. A full set of facial photographs are required to make a determination about how to proceed. For many examples of chin implants, please see the link below

Answer: Hard to answer without films and exam Hello, Sounds like you are in good occlusion and thats great. Would be hard to tell you what to do next without seeing you, some films help or even an exam in the office. You might not need such extensive surgery, a chin implant may help unless you are opposed to having an implant? soft tissue fillers to the chin are also now commonly used, they are ideal for people not interested in surgery. good luck on your endeavors!
