I had a genioplasty and I feel i need more advancrment. Is a revision more dangerous than a normal genioplasty? If so what are the risks? Is nervous damage a bigger risk now? And how long aftet the initial surgery is it best to get a revision? Thank you!

I agree with Dr. Morrisette that the addition of a chin implant would be advisable.  A second genioplasty can present many potential complications such as nerve damage fractures of the chin and dificulty with the procedure its self.  Best wishes

Thank you for this question. In some patients up to 15 mm of horizontal advancement is necessary to achieve a normal profile appearance. In these cases, I recommend an advancement genioplasty followed by the placement of a silicone chin implant. The limits of a genioplasty are about 10 mm so the addition of a chin implant of 5-6 mm can make up the difference. These procedures are best performed at different times.
