What is the best frequency of microneedling sessions?

Question

In 2016 I had 6 microneedling treatments (PRP/stem cell), & took a year off. Starting again & have received conflicting information about frequency of treatments. Some providers have recommended having treatments every 3 wks & others say 4-6, does this depend on intensity of treatments? I have severe rolling scars, some boxcar, & no icepick scarring. Generally speaking, how often should one w/ this scarring type receive treatment?

This is difficult to answer without pictures. I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for skincare and after care recommendations. I always combine microneedling with prp, punch excision, TCA cross, fillers and lasers to get the best outcomes for this type of scarring. We do treatments every 3-6 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer

In my clinic, I usually recommend microneedling treatment every 4-6 weeks. I believe this interval gives the skin enough time to heal between treatments. However, there no set guideline and other physicians may have a different opinion on this.
