I am 71 years old. Am I too old for eye filler? What type of peel for wrinkles?

Hello Katherine. We have patients as old as 90 for dermal fillers so I guess you are never too old! For the fine lines and wrinkles that develop as we age and are not appropriate for Botox or filler, we use laser resurfacing (see link below). This is an excellent procedure and many of our patients between 55 and 75 have undergone the procedure. Between laser resurfacing, dermal fillers and Dysport/Botox, there are always options to create a more youthful appearance.

I can tell you that you are not too old for filler and if that is the right treatment for your specific concerns, you should see a very nice result. I typically inject this area using a blunt-tipped micro-cannula rather than a needle, to minimize post-treatment bruising and achieve the most natural result. Another option for rejuvenating the area under the eyes is laser resurfacing, which is excellent for removing fine lines and improving skin texture. Some patients may benefit most from a combination of these procedures. fillers can be used at any age, but sometimes you need MORE Than fillers such as skin tightening, textural improvement or lifting. we need to see photos to determine what you need.

at home peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (EmerageSkin roller with anteage AERIFY MD ampules weekly, see link) should be started now to prevent further aging and give you enahced results (see link).

For facial rejuvenation, I would suggest a combination approach of
1) skin care with products and PRP/microneedling
2) PDT light therapy few times a month with growth factors
3) laser treatments like clear and brilliant regularly and a few times a year Fraxel/halo Viva, Co2/Erbium
4) Sculptra injections a few times a year for collagen production with fillers like juvederm/restylane/belotero/radiesse/bellafill
5) thermage/ultherapy for yearly skin tightening with or without PDO or cone based instalift threads for lifting
6) botox every 2-3 months to stop movement lines and prevent lines at rest
7) deep microneedling RF like Fractora/morpheus8 for tightening of the skin
8) Vascular laser like vbeam/excel V or BBL forever young treatment every quarter (3-4 months)

Under eye filler would be a great option for treating under eye hollows. Restylane-L is a great product for this area and may last up to 12 months. While lasers and chemical peels may reduce the appearance of wrinkles, without botox to relax the muscles creating them, these procedures are only a temporary band-aid. Botox helps to soften wrinkles made by muscle contraction while preventing new ones. Always remember to consult with a board certified cosmetic physician.

Thank you for your question! Under eye filler can definitely help with volume loss and hollowness under the eyes. Volbella which is typically placed in that area lasts around 9-12 months sometimes even longer for some patients. There are deep laser peels (CO2 laser) that can be done to improve/soften wrinkles; however, it is important to keep in mind that without botox you will just being to form those same wrinkles again. Also, those deep laser peels have a good amount of downtime ~2 weeks where you look socially unacceptable. Hope this helps!
