I've had liposuction done in the (male) pubic area done 5 years ago and recently had bodytite done (without liposuction) in the same area for skin tightening. The doctor did not recommend any compression garment to be worn after the procedure. I'm curious to know if any other doctors concur with this decision.

Answer: No compression recommended after BodyTite in the pubic area by a doctor, is this normal? The compression garment places pressure on areas of liposuction to control fluid and swelling. Because only BodyTite was performed, you will likely have some bruising and swelling that usually resolves in a few weeks. No compression garment was required. I always recommend that you follow your board certified plastic surgeon's postoperative protocols.

Answer: BodyTite & Compression Garment Most surgeons use compression garments after liposuction and BodyTite procedures. But, because the pubic area being treated is quite small your surgeon must of felt there was no advantage to initiating compression therapy post-op. You can discuss this with your surgeon. I hope this was helpful.Thomas S. Taylor, MD, FACS
