Will Cellfina help with arm cellulite or is it only used for the hip, thigh, and buttocks areas?

Cellfina for cellulite on thighs and buttocks

Hello and thank you for your question!

At this time, Cellfina is only being used on the thighs and buttocks, as this is where it is FDA approved and these are the areas where the studies have been done. Just like with most aesthetic treatments, slowly there will be more studies done on other body areas. For the buttocks and the thighs, we are seeing AMAZING results, in one easy treatment, minimally invasive, only local anesthesia is needed, and patients are going back to work the next day.

Cellfina will make her national TV debut on Friday, May 1st on The Doctors! Please check the show’s website for your local network listings. Watch this for more information.

Also, refer to our website for more details. Feel free to contact our office for a complementary consultation!

Cellfina a new cellulite treatment in our NYC practice

Cellfina has FDA clearance to treat cellulite in the thigh and buttock.  After physicians gain experience, they may use procedures, off-label, that is, they may do the procedures for indications for which the company had not sought FDA clearance.

One would hypothesize that if Cellfina works well on cellulite in one area, that it might work well in others, but until it is used on a signficant number of patients for other areas, one can not assume its effectiveness and safety profile would be the same as the original tested sites.

Only on FDA approved areas.

Currently, Cellfina is only FDA cleared for treatment of cellulite of the thighs and buttocks. We are not treating any other areas at this time.

Cellfina for arm cellulite

Most often, arm cellulite is actually caused by skin laxity. Skin laxity can be treated with skin tightening devices such as Ultherapy. The best way to know your options is with a consult.

Multi technology approach

At this time Cellfina is indicated to improve the appearance of cellulite for up to 3 years in the thighs and buttocks only. We have seen outstanding results in these areas with this new approach to cellulite treatment. If you are looking to improve dimples and laxity on the arms you could consider a practice, like ours, that develops a personalized comprehensive plan using multiple technologies to treat troublesome areas. We have been incorporating Venus Legacy along with Cellfina to provide skin tightening and overall body contouring, which could be used on the arms.

What is Cellfina?

Your cellulite problem is a common one. Fortunately, finally there are effective ways to minimize this problem. Perhaps the least invasive one is  Cellfina™. Cellfina is the only FDA-cleared minimally invasive, one-time procedure clinically proven to improve the appearance of cellulite for at least two years—the longest FDA-cleared duration for a cellulite treatment. A straightforward solution to cellulite, Cellfina™, combines a proven approach with innovative, proprietary technology, to produce precise, long-lasting results and has a high satisfaction rating on RealSelf. Together with Velashape 3, a non invasive procedure to help "shrink wrap the skin" and further minimize cellulite as a combination treatment is perhaps your best chance for taking care of this tough problem. Cellulaze is also a possible treatment but much more invasive

Cellfina Treatment Areas..

The Cellfina system is intended for long-term improvement in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thighs areas of adult females. All other areas would be considered "off label".

Cellulite, Vaser Smooth, Thermi RF, Cellfina, Fat Transfer, Cellulaze, Subcision, Dimpling, Sculpsure, Coolsculpting

Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women.
It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.
Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment.

It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks.
It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser.
If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.
Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years.
Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure.
It can be used on women with all skin types but caution should be taken if theres a history of keloiding.

It can also be combined with other treatments such as Thermi or
Ulthera if skin tightening is needed.

We have done Sculpsure and Coolsculpting if fat reduction is wanted, but its best to wait 3 months to see the results before proceeding.

It can also be done at the same time as other procedures such as liposuction and BBL or as a stand alone procedure in the office.

Since Cellfina outcomes can be based on technique and experience, please see a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes body contouring to see if Cellfina or other treatments are available to meet your goals.

Cellfina approved for buttocks and thighs

Cellfina is FDA-cleared (and studied) only for the buttocks and thighs.  Other areas such as the arms have not been properly studied.  Use of Cellfina in these areas is "off-label" and may not be ideal for treatment.
