Brow lift on woman with receding hairline?

Question

Is any brow lift possible if one has a high forehead and receeeding hairline? I have a very wrinkled high forehead with low eyebrows in need of a lift, but I have hair loss in front and on sides of hair. Can anything be done?

A facial plastic surgeon considers the balance of the patient’s face before making any decisions about what procedure to perform. Depending on the degree of lift you need, you may benefit from a 1-cm brow lift, which will not affect your hairline. The small (1-cm) incisions are made in the eyebrows themselves using local anesthesia. Recovery includes one day of rest. Sutures are removed after 5 to 7 days. If your brow is wrinkled, I’d recommend resurfacing with chemical peels to improve the quality of your skin. This will also help the brow lift look extra rejuvenating. I hope this helps.

Yes it is possible to re-position the brow in an attractive and effective fashion and simultaneously reduce a high forehead. My procedure the Dual Plane Brow Lift produces exactly that effect by lifting the brow in a balanced fashion and reduces a high hairline by using an incision that weaves into the hairline. Thank you for your question about brow lift. It is difficult to correctly offer a suggestion without an in person consultation.  However, based on what you said, it sounds as if a brow lift would appeal to you.  As we age we lose collagen and elastin in our skin.  This in turn cause our skin to become loose and sag.  A brow lift would allow you to have your brow placed in the correct anatomical position.  A brow lift and hairline reduction achieve similar outcomes. 
To be sure, see two or more experienced, board-certified Plastic Surgeons in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery. I hope this helps.

Depending upon how much your hairline is receding you could consider getting a hair transplant with the new Neograft machine and then do your brow lift.  You could do your brow lift first and then do the hair transplant.  With an endoscopic approach you no  longer need a long incision over the top of your head. so the incisions are easier to hide.

In cases like the one you describe, I prefer a hairline incision combined with 2 other incisions hidden behind the temporal hairline.
This is the best way to preserve the hairline in it's present position or advance it slightly.

There are many forms of browlift that can be performed.  It depends on your hairline and how you wear your hair.  If you wear your hair pulled back, you may not wish to place an incision in front (trichophytic brow lift), as even the best incisions can show.  Despite this, small follicular unit grafts can be placed in front of the hairline, if the incision is not satisfactory.  
In this case, an endoscopic brow lift can be patterned to not raise the hairline at all.  The natural agonist/antagonist reaction of the brow muscles can be used to elevate the medial brows and the lateral portion can be maneuvered directly back.  Some of this can be simulated with threads, though these do not give a long lasting result.
A brow lowering can certainly be performed, if desired with a trichophytic browlift and brow lowering.  Again hair style needs to be checked to see how this might affect it.
The other question is what to do about your receding hair.  A metabolic work up and hair biopsy might be indicated.  Also, we have worked with PRP for about 6 years and my UCLA fellow recently reviewed the world literature on the topic.

Yes, there are options. Depending on the contour/curvature of the forehead an endoscopic approach may be possible. Alternately there are techniques which combine lowering the hair line with a brow lift, but a scar right at the hairline is required.

There is a technique called a hairline-lowering (pretrichial) browlift where an incision is made at the hairline in order to avoid raising it. Endotines (the little absorbable carpet tack devices) can be placed through this approach and you can sometimes even have the hairline brought down slightly if the hair is not too thin right behind the hairline.
