Will a brow lift damage my hair transplants?

I will be undergoing a traditional brow lift surgery in November. I had five hair transplant procedures and am fearful that the brow lift will damage the good work done on my hairline.

Notify your facial plastic surgeon about your hair transplants. The scars for your endoscopic brow lift can be hidden in your hairline without affecting the transplants. Be sure you have a top-notch surgeon. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your question.  In my experience, there is no hair loss with and endoscopic brow lift when it is down with proper technique.  I would wait 1 year after your last hair transplant before having a brow-lift.

Our plastic surgery practice is unique as we not only perform all cosmetic plastic surgery procedures but have a very busy hair restoration practice so I completely understand your concerns. Any browlift procedure carries a risk of hair loss, but a hairline incision is least likely to permanently damage your transplants and not alter the position of your existing hairline. Your scar may be more noticeable for a few weeks but will fade with time. Even if you do lose some hair follicles after a browlift they can be replaced at a later time with further transplants (provided your donor area is adequate).Please see the web reference below for more information. Best of luck!

A well executed browlift will not damage hair follicles from a hair transplant.  The incision placement for a browlift can be made at the hairline in order to shorten the forehead, or behind the hairline to lengthen the forehead. For many examples, please see the video and link below

There are different types of browlifts - and each have a different risk of hair loss. Let me give you a quick overview of the browlift approaches in relation to hair loss. A traditional browlift is not really a medical term, though you may be referring to a "coronal" browlift, where an incision is made over the top of the head. With this approach, you may lose a few hairs in the incision line.  A more modern brow lift is an "Endoscopic" browlift. This is an excellent operation with much hair loss.  Small ports are made and the brow is lifted with the help of an endoscope. If your hairline is very high, an incision beneath the hairline at the top of the forehead, called a "Pre-trichial" browlift, is appropriate. With a pretrichial lift, there is no hair loss.  So, at this point, you should clarify the exact approach being taken and make sure it is the right approach for you, your brows, your forehead, and your hair. Good Day. Thank you for your question. This is an excellent question and its fabulous that you have the forethought to concern yourself with a brow lift injuring previous hair transplants.First, determine if a brow lift surgery is necessary. There are numerous techniques for brow lifting. I assume by the term "traditional brow lift surgery" means a temporal brow lift with an incision along the temporal hairline where your hair transplants are located. The hair transplants should have a good blood supply and be mature at this time. Making the incision as short as possible and angling (beveling) the knife blade to make the incision to avoid hair follicles is moderate simply and possible.If a hair follicle is injured and does not survive, additional transplants can be carried out. I understand it will not be many and there is a cost for each one, so avoidance of injury is a priority.In summary, your risk of injuring the hair follicles fro the hair transplant is low.

There is always a slight risk of hair loss when an incision is placed within the hairline, although it is usually temporary follicle shock. In addition the length and angulation of the incision(s) are potentially a factor. If permanent hair loss should occur additional transplantation to those areas should be successful provided that you don't smoke or have other circulatory risk factors.
