How soon after having liposuction can you have a second liposuction procedure done?

When liposuction/liposculpture is performed entirely under local anesthesia with tumescent anesthesia, there is a maximum amount of lidocaine (the local anesthetic) that can be safely used. In addition, when removing fat from a large area, the body needs to heal (sealing all the disrupted blood vessels and lymphatics as well as removing damages fat cells). Because of these two factors, we usually recommend waiting at least 4 weeks between procedures. We also like to perform 2 separate small procedures instead of one large procedure so there is little to any pain and down time after the procedure. We suggest you visit a board-certified, experienced dermatologist who is an expert in tumescent liposculpture.

Hello,You've already heard that its most common to do those two areas in one procedure. You can have another procedure within a few days assuming that the first surgery was not very long (less than an hour or two) or caused you to be bed ridden. These procedures are commonly performed at the same time, so he should be able to have your second procedure at any time.  Speak with your surgeon for final recommendations.

I don't see any reason you would need to wait more than a couple weeks to have the second round of liposuction provided your healing properly after the first.

I agree with my colleague!  It is very unusual for a patient to have a single area treated by liposuction.  It is common to contour multiple body sites, and in select individuals, to even add complementary procedures such as breast surgery.  I would encourage you to get a formal consultation and discuss your concerns with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Good luck!

Typically, most surgeons wait a good 6 months in between procedures that require general anesthesia. However, why don't you combine both areas of liposuction during one procedure? It is fairly common for board certified plastic surgeons to perform body contouring via liposuction of the back, abdomen, hips, and thighs in one procedure. Good luck!!

Tumescent liposuction done as an awake procedure and without general anesthesia or IV sedation is very safe. The amount (number of body sites) of liposuction that can be safely performed at one session is determined by several factors:body weight, which determines the amount of local tumescent anesthesia that is safe to administeroverall healthestimated amount of fat to be removedamount of body surface area to be treatedIt may be that it is safe to do the abdomen and the back at one session. The best way to determine that is to see a physician who is very experienced with liposuction done by the awake tumescent anesthesia method.If I believe it is more appropriate to split the procedure into two sessions, I find two weeks is an ideal interval.
