9 days post augmentation and full lift. Very itchy and the incisions look horrible. I am freaking out! Is this normal? (photos)

Question

I developed a stomach rash and extreme itching from my waist up. My doc thinks I may be allergic to the tape they had on me to close the incisions so he removed the tape, gave me a cortisone shot and 5 days of prednisone.. The incisions look botched to me and the veins are just horrifying. Is this normal? It’s freaking me out and I can’t see my doctor again for 2 days.

Congratulations on your surgery.  Given that you are very early in the post surgery period, it is hard to say how things will pan out over the next 4 months to a year.  The incisions and scar will go thru a process where they will look worse over time before they improve.Scar process usually takes about 1 year before they have matured and will no longer change at that point.  What you can do is discuss with your surgeon what they recommend for scar treatment and when to start it.  Hope that helps.

so be patient and give yourself time to heal and for the swelling to resolve.  I assume you did your due diligence in choosing your surgeon and your surgeon's experience will allow for him/her to know that you will be good at the end of your journey.  So keep your surgeon informed of your concerns and let him/her do the worrying and focus on healing and following your surgeon's instructions to get the best outcome possible.

The reason your incisions look unnatural is because your breast mounds are swollen and making your incisions look wierd. You need to be patient and allow them to resolve the swelling; it is a good idea to keep them covered with steri-strips; you are probably allergic to the glue  so just avoid the glue component; you will also have the opportunity to get scar management down the line but it is too early at this point.
