I currently have braces and my orthodontist told me I might be a good candidate for genioplasty. However, I am uncomfortable with the surgery, and would rather get a chin implant in the long run. In the mean time, I am looking for a temporary alternative to any type of surgery; am I a good candidate for chin fillers? I would say that my chin is about a centimeter shorter than my lower lip. Also, my overall jaw area is rather asymetrical.
Answer: Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation with Injectable Fillers -- Radiesse, Sculptra, Surgical Implants, See an Expert "A formal evaluation would be needed to determine what's best. Many of my patients try to avoid surgery, so we perform a non-surgical chin augmentation treatment with injectable fillers. Fillers like Radiesse, Voluma, BellaFill as well as Sculptra are injected into the area, improving the overall appearance of the lower face and balancing the jaw and lip harmony. We use cannula injections to meticulously contour and project the chin, soften the chin along the jawline and improve the chin crease. Implants are still a great option once you are 100% positive that you are ready for a permanent enhancement. I suggest getting a consultation with an experienced cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert; our practice is located right here in Los Angeles. Best, Dr. Emer"

Answer: Fillers v chin implants Hi, from your photograph it does appear that a filler such as Voluma or Perlane might give you the slight projection you are looking for. The duration of the effect varies with each patient but ranges from about 1 - 1.5 years. A chin implant is a more elegant option, requires a small operation but will give you life long results. hope this helps, please do keep me posted.warm regardsDr Prashant Murugkar

Answer: You look to be a good candidate for chin fillers Hello, auemie. Although an in-person examination is the most accurate way to know if you'd benefit from chin fillers, you do seem to be a good candidate based on this photo. A firm, lifting filler such as Radiesse, Voluma or Restylane can improve the projection and shape of your chin, and balance it with the rest of your face. If considering a chin implant, make sure you consult a specialist who is very experienced in treating women. They can end up looking a bit to big and masculinizing some women's faces. The advantage of fillers is tha they don't just occupy space and push the skin up, as an implant does, but can also stimulate your skin to produce its own collagen and hence restore itself. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Dr. Hema

Answer: Am I a good candidate for chin fillers? I frequently use fillers to enhance the projection of the chin. Ultimately, most patients do decide to have the permanent chin implant. I do believe you would benefit from fillers or a chin implant. If you place your finger from your lips straight down, your chin should almost touch your finger. Yours is a bit behind. A filler or implant will project the chin forward to better balance the lower half of your face.
