Thank you for your question, The drains will help prevent pockets of fluid, every patient heals differently, therefore the time a patient will have the drain on will vary, they regularly come out after the second week, when the patients are draining around 25 CC's during 24 hours, that way we know the patient will not have any troubles caused by the fluid.
I do use a drain in BBL. I do aggressive liposuction above the buttocks to reshape the upper border and create a dip or lower back curve to accentuate the results. This lower mid back area has poor lymphatic drainage and fluid tends to accumulate in this are since the small skin incision tends to close in a day or two. I place a small piece of soft tubing about 1 inch long in the small incision at the top of the buttock crack for 3 days. I also instruct my patients that the back and the area above the buttocks needs to be massaged daily to express as much fluid as possible. I also place a double layer of thick foam in the lower back area to promote skin adhesion down to the muscles. See a board certified plastic surgeon who has extensive experience with large volume fat grafting to the buttocks and breasts. Good luck.
I do not use drains in the BBL. Usually after 2 days there is no drainage in most of my patients. I perform about 500 Brazilian buttlifts each year, and this procedure is the most surgeon dependent plastic surgery procedure. Find a plastic surgeon with ELITE credentials who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts each year. Then look at the plastic surgeon's website before and after photo galleries to get a sense of who can deliver the results. Kenneth Hughes, MD Los Angeles, CA
