I do not recommend specific sleeping positions to my patients after breast surgery, other than do not sleep on your stomach. NSAID's like ibuprofen and naprosen help control swelling.
This is a question best answered by your surgeon as opinions may vary. Typically sleeping with the head and shoulders somewhat elevated would be most helpful for comfort and to reduce swelling in the first few days after surgery. Your surgeon will advise what is best for you.
Thanks for your question.You should ask your surgeon for their instructions first. That being said, I have my patients sleep slightly upright (3-4 pillows) for 4 days. After that, the swelling starts to recede so any position other than on your belly works.Good luck with your continued healing.Dr T
I think that the post-op sleep positioning is up to the given surgeon. I do not specifically have my patients sleep in a sitting position after surgery. I think whatever position is comfortable is ok. Best to ask your surgeon.
