I have hollow eye troughs and am considering PRF. I just did a PRF on my scalp for hair restoration. The technician who did it sold me on booking an appointment for the eyes. However, I read that filler is better. Is this true?
Answer: Tear trough treatment Filler is more often used to improve the tear trough area. It improves the transition from the under eye to the cheek and gives a younger, fresher appearance. The treatment is done in the office and the results last approximately a year depending on filler selected. We welcome you to visit our Houston office for your treatment!

Answer: Tear Trough Hi @loveansbeaury! PRF injections will not restore volume loss in the tear trough area. Thus, I would recommend Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

Answer: Filler for under eye area Hello, PRF is not an established standard of care for under eye rejuvenation. It is something popularized by untrained providers and med spas. Please visit an oculoplastic surgeon for safe and high-standard treatment for your eyelids.

Answer: Fillers Have An Established Track Record For Treating Under Eye Hollows & Tear Troughs Fillers have a several decades long track record for treating under eye hollows, going back to the early days with the use of Zyderm I collagen for this purpose in the 1980s. More recently HA fillers, such as Belotero Balance & Teosyal Redensity II have established themselves as effective treatments for these issues, with results that may last 2-7 years. I personally have a patient whose results have so far lasted that long and when I treated myself, it is so far greater than five years. The same cannot be said of newer faddish treatments whose hard science to support their use lags woefully behind the intense marketing to promote them. Treating the under eyes with fillers requires experience and expertise. So make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist and be sure to ask to see his/her personal before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Hope this helps.

Answer: Improving Under Eye / Tear Trough with Injectable Fillers (Belotero, Volbella, Restylane Silk) -- add Lasers, Microneedling/PRP Fillers like Belotero, Volbella, and Restylane Silk are good for improving under the eyes, but keep in mind that a combination approach will give the most improvement. My patients try to get non-surgical treatments to avoid surgery, so we use fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP and stem cells. I suggest consulting with an expert to develop a treatment plan best suited for you. Best, Dr. Emer
