Does ThermiTight cause fat loss?

I had a thermi tight procedure on jowl area a little over 2 years ago... Feel like I am ready to have done again... My question is, I have a thin face without alot of fat, does this procedure cause you to loose fat?

Thank you for your question.Thermi Tight can result in some fat loss if it is done at higher temperature. Lower temperatures are safer if fat loss is to be avoided.  Your Plastic Surgeon should be able to guide you with this. All The Best !

ThermiTight utilizes a small electrode inserted under the skin to heat tissue to a selected therapeutic temperature.  Literature has shown that elevating skin to a therapeutic temperature level can contract collagen molecules and stimulate collagen production, which may give the appearance of lifting or tightening.   Fat reduction is rare, unless set to high temperatures and kept at high temperatures for a significant amount of time .
  
To best answer your question,  it  depends on how much skin laxity you have.   ThermiTight can work well in the thigh area to tighten skin that is mild to moderately laxity.  Surgery may be a better option, if you have excessive laxity.   Results with ThermiTight vary from patient to patient.  You should experience some overall improvement.

The ThermiTight procedure allows the physician to dial in temperature settings that only allow collagen production and skin tightening, or higher temperatures that dissolve fat. The physician can customize the treatment to every different patient they see.

Thank you for your excellent question.  ThermiTight is an amazing technology, but it is really best thought of as another tool your surgeon can use to address several different cosmetic concerns.  ThermiTight certainly can be used to reduce fat, if that is your goal. If that is NOT your goal, then it can also be used to simply tighten skin by your surgeon keeping the probe just below the surface of the skin and selecting a lower temperature, which we know will result in skin tightening, but not fat injury.  Just make sure to express your concerns ahead of time with your surgeon.

One of the things that makes ThermiTight such a great treatment is that depending on the depth and temperature of treatment you can cause skin tightening or fat loss. If your issue is more loose skin than fat then a more superficial treatment can be done at a lower temperature to tighten the skin only and leave the fat unaffected. The amount of fat loss during skin tightening with ThermiTight is extremely small because the temperature settings for skin tightening are much lower than for fat reduction. In addition to that the treatment depth is different for skin tightening vs fat reduction. Superficial for skin tightening, deeper for fat reduction. If done correctly, the chance that you will lose a noticeable amount of facial fat should be extremely small. Make sure you see an experienced board certified physician. Good luck!

The temperatures that are used to tighten the skin with the ThermiRF device does not cause fat loss.  There is a technique that involves raising the temperature of the device to a higher setting to potentially dissolve some areas with excessive fat. This woks particularly well in the submental(under the chin) region coupled with microliposuction.
