Permanent or resorbable staples, The former must be removed and the latter may take up to 6 months to resorb.
Stainless steel staples enable a rapid skin closure. Unfortunately, they cannot match the precision and beauty of a properly done hand-sewn subcuticular (hidden IN the skin) skin closure. Staples often also result in "rail road track" permanent scars as well and need to be removed early. Some surgeons use dissolving staples applied by a special gun to close the skin instead of stitches. These staples are occasionally exposed and must be removed and have a lumpy feel which takes a few months to go away.
If you are referring to dermal staples, they take about 6 weeks or perhaps longer. Stainless steel staples must be removed. Sometimes the dermal ones will surface and need to be pulled, but not a big deal.

This is not unusual for patients to say. It really takes a good 3-4 months for all the swelling to go down, everything to tighten, etc. With regards to the weight gain, after a month your weight should be back to normal with regards to weight changes. I doubt it would still be...
