Walking is strongly encouraged to get your legs going, get your circulation pumping and avoid the risk of blood clots in your legs which can be very dangerous. Don't let pain keep you in bed.
It is common to experience some discomfort following surgery. For the first three days, make sure you limit arm movements but you can certainly leisurely walk. Be careful in taking steps, and get assistance if necessary. After three days, relatively normal non-strenuous activities can be resumed. You shouldn't be exercising at this time. However, you should always ask your surgeon for their advice. They may have different guidelines on physical activity. Congratulations on your breast augmentation!
Michelle,Please, yes, walk around after surgery. It does a number of beneficial things including preventing blood clots and making you feel better.Follow your plastic surgeon's advice but I do not recommend more than walking for at least 4-6 weeks such as jogging or running.Walking will also get your mind off the expected pain.I hope this was helpful,Dr. Daniel BarrettBeverly Hills, CA
Each surgeon has her or his own ideas about the best levels of activity for patients after an augmentation. I encourage my patients to be up moving around as much as possible on the day of surgery. I encourage them to move their arms, reach up to cabinets, and be moderately active. Strenuous activity like running, lifting anything over about 10 pounds, walking a large dog on a leash, or pushing heavy doors is discouraged for a few weeks. I am a big fan of ibuprofen for mild discomfort after breast augmentation; that's all that many of my patients require. Pain in the back is fairly common for a few days after an augmentation. Movement and ibuprofen help my patients with this. Your surgeon probably has some particular recommendations regarding these issues for you, and your surgeon knows the details of your surgery and the types of activities that may be best for you. Don't follow comments or advice you read on the internet. You have a relationship with your surgeon; call your surgeon's office and see what she/he thinks!
Post op pain is common. It can occur anywhere in the chest. Being up and around will hasten your recovery and decrease the chances of blood clots in your legs. Follow with your surgeon. All the best.
can occur and walking as much as you like should be fine. But if your pains worsen, you should let your surgeon know. In the meantime, focus on good posture and use your medications as prescribed.
Back pain following an augmentation is normal and getting up and walking around also is a good idea as well as keeping the breasts iced. Also try to take periodic deep breathsDr Corbin
Of course you need to address this question directly to your plastic surgeon and not follow Internet advice. I can say that I encouraged my patients to be up and walking slowly and carefully as soon as possible after breast augmentation. Back pain is common after breast augmentation and ambulating or walking and early institution of breast implant displacement exercises can speed relief of this pain. However please check with your plastic surgeon.
Moisture can promote bacterial growth but it should be fine if you have blow dried your bandages completely. It's best to be careful but this can also happen after a shower but as mentioned immediate complete drying can help prevent risks. Also some bandages are more water resistant.Hope this ...
This could be one reason, but highly unlikely considering that they kept the incisions closed for two weeks. Another reason could be that there is too much tension on the incision line, and another could be infection.
It is possible that your implant is 'loose', meaning the breast capsule, the space in which the implant sits, can stretch over time. If this happens, it can be tightened through surgery.
