6 months ago I had a cyst removed from my chest that left a raised scar. My doctor was not happy with it's size so she cut around it and re sutured. She said it was going to look really puckered since she wanted it to heal well and that she found a little remaining pus. The scar does not look any smaller. Is this a keloid or different scar, could pus still remain? The size fluctuates a little from being raised and hard to softer and more flat, like the cyst did. I have never keloided before.

Keloid scars need a combination approach for improvement. I recommend lasers, microneedling/prp, 5/FU steroids and/or surgery with or without radiation. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Avoid lasers at this point. I would start with a combination of Melapads followed by Melarase PM and Replenish once daily to help even out your scars. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
