These spots can be improved with a combination of lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Eme
Hello there,Thank you for your question. Though the brown spots will eventually fade, a 3-month course of hydroquinone may help reduce the "hyper pigmentation." You could also consider laser toning with a 1064NdYAG, 2940 Pixel or even possibly an IPL (depending on your Fitzpatrick skin type and how the pigment actually looks after the aforementioned treatments). You could also consider chemical peels. The treatments all do need to be done in sections because doing the entire body would be too much. I really recommend seeing your dermatologist and having an honest discussion on what would be the best protocol for you. Hope this helps. All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACS
Hello and thank you for your question. As a board certified dermatologist, we see this very often. I recommend that you are pursuing aggressive miniaturization of your skin with a lactic acid solution and/or cream. This will help you exfoliate the pigment much faster. Cerave Sal Acid, Cerave Cream, Urea 20%, Glycolic acid lotion creams are great over the counter regimens. It would be impractical to apply HQ to such larger skin surfaces areas, and if you find a local derm you could discuss this avenue. Based on your skin type, I would be cautious of any lasers as your pigmented skin could be easily injured and resulting in worsening of the post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. To ameliorate the discoloration, temporarily you could use jergens tanning lotion and it may help the discoloration blend in. Seek the expertise of a dermatologist with skin of color experience.Dr. M-D.
Avoid lasers at this point. I would start with a combination of Melapads followed by Melarase PM and Replenish once daily to help even out your scars. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianLos Angeles
