Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. A photo along with a bit more history would have been very helpful. Unfortunately, we do not have any current technology that is able to completely eliminate a scar, from any cause, once it has fully matured (i.e. beyond three months). However, in general, mature stitch tracks, sometimes referred to as "railroad track" scars may be helped by the use of professional microneedling.to help to better blend the surface tone and texture of the scar with the surrounding normal skin. When combined with the use of topical tyrosine and bimatoprost, it has also shown itself useful for restoring a more normal color. Of course, it your scar is less than three months old, you would be wise to seek intervention before it fully matures, since treatment in this early stage has been associated with significant improvement in the overall appearance of scars.. Make sure to seek consultation and treatment by a board certified aesthetic physician and ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed.
Stitch mark scars can be improved with lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision for blending and fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer
