Does HIV medication affect the microneedling/PRP result? (Photo)

Hi doctors , I did a microneedling / chemical peel to my face on some day that I ended up in a Very bad Hyperpigmentation , so rightwway I Went to a dermatologist and gave me a cortisone cream to use for few day and a bleaching cream to start after the redness is gone that he thinks it will take care of the Hyperpigmentation . Does microneedling with PRP help ? Does truvada which is an hiv medication affects the result of prp ?

Microneedling shouldnt cause hyperpigmentation,  and PRP helps prevent pigmentation.  You should have had skin prep before that treatment and your skin type should have added clear and brilliant to get even more outcomes.  However, hyperpigmentation from any type needs a combination approach of peels like cosmelan,  lasers like clear and brilliant and aerolase or laser genesis, radiofrequency like venus viva, and constant skin care and sun protection.  Bimontly facials with silk peel dermalinfusion is essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin.  If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement.  I suggest a formal consultation with an expert in lasers and peels. Hello and thanks for posting.
Having HIV or taking Truvada (either for HIV or to prevent HIV) should not negatively affect microneedle treatment.  In general, microneedle treatment, with or without platelet rich plasma, will help hyperpigmentation. 
  
If the treatment your Dermatologist prescribed is not effective, there are additional options to regain normal skin tone and pigment.

Hyperpigmentation can occur in patients after microneedling or chemical peel if the treatment is performed at a deeper level which results in stimulation of the pigment cells to start increasing in number. This can be minimized by pre-treating the area with bleaching cream and retin-A prior to your chemical peel and microneedling. Microneedling with PRP will not directly improve hyperpigmentation. Truvada and any other PreP medications have not been studied together with aesthetic treatments, but its mechanism of action would not be expected to affect your reaction to your treatments. It is most likely just your body's natural reaction due to the greater amount of pigment in your skin (dark hair, dark eyes etc) Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MD
