How do i know if my laser hair removal sessions are working?

so far i have had only TWO laser sessions. but im not too sure if they are making any difference. The laser woman says for me to shave and then go to see her to do the laser. but after about 3 days the hair grows back as normal and i have to keep shaving as if i never had a laser session. Is this normal ?

Results after Laser Hair Removal Treatment

It is too early after laser hair removal treatment to see results. Remember it takes 6-9 sessions of laser treatment to reduce 70%-90% of the hair. This is because not all hair is in its active growth phase. Keep up with your treatments to see best results.

Laser hair removal

Hello and thank you for your question.

After laser hair removal treatment, the hairs might appear to be growing. This is exfoliation/shedding of the hair and occurs for about 1-2 weeks after treatment. After the hairs have shed, you should notice reduction of hair density in the treated area. Some hairs may continue to grow back as they may not have been in the active growth phase at the time of treatment but overall regrowth should be much less than prior to treatment.

Talk to your provider about your concerns as the laser treatment settings may need to be adjusted based on the hair thickness and skin type.

Hope this helps

Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal targets the pigment in the root of actively growing hair.  Following a treatment, is unusual to see any new growth before 2 weeks.  This is because there is always some hair that is not actively growing, but is dormant at the time of treatment and so is not affected by the laser.  Hair can remain dormant for some time, but usually within 2-4 weeks, at least some of the dormant hair transitions to active growth and can be treated with the laser.  That is why laser hair removal requires a series of treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.  Talk to your provider about the hair growth you are seeing to be sure the laser settings are appropriate for your skin and hair type.

Getting the results you want with laser hair removal

I'm not sure what the timeline of treatments are, but from what you describe it can still be considered typical this early in your laser hair removal process. It always takes a series of treatments for Laser Hair Removal and is dependent on each individual.  Diode lasers are typically the best treatment for laser hair removal.  I typically have patients do every 4 weeks for the first 3 times and then every 4-6 weeks for 3 times after. See an expert in laser hair removal for best results. Best, Dr. Emer.

Laser Hair Removal Effectiveness

All of this is typical except that hair should not go away and return three days later. Following a laser hair removal treatment, hair should appear to still be growing for 1-3 weeks, after which time you should notice the hair begin to shed. Once hair has shed, it typically takes 1-2 months for regrowth, which is when you are ready to be treated again. If you have not noticed any shedding in this process, you probably are not being properly treated. If this is the case and you are going to a reputable facility for the treatment, I would discuss your concerns with the provider and settings can probably be adjusted accordingly.
